INSTALLATION OF CARPET IN THE CONTROL ROOMS (TACS NOS.
67996/67997)
By letter dated May 30, 1986, the Indiana Michigan Power Company (IMPC) informed the staff that carpeting had been installed in both control rooms as a result of human factors concerns.
IMPC indicated that the carpeting installed had a higher flame spread rating than permitted by NRC guidelines and requested the staff to review and approve the installation of the carpeting in the control rooms.
Enclosed is the staff evaluation.
Based on our evaluation, the staff concludes that the installation of the carpeting in the Unit 1 and Unit 2 control rooms is acceptable.
