Letter dated October 23, 1992, from K. E. Perkins, Jr., NRC Region V, to W. F. Conway, APS
Dear Mr. Martin:
Subject:
Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (PVNGS)
Units 1, 2, and 3 Docket Nos. STN 50-528/529/530 Response to NRC Request for information File: 92-056-026 92 2 The referenced letter requested that Arizona Public Service Company (APS) respond to information provided by a former contractor employee during his deposition as part of Department of Labor Case 92-ERA-30, The information provided by the former contractor employee identified numerous concerns without much supporting detail ~
As a result, significant effort has been required to identify relevant documents, interview individuals, and investigate the identified concerns.
Furthermore, because of the Department of Labor litigation between the former contractor employee and APS, additional legal review of this information is necessary.
Based on the reviews and investigations completed to date, APS has identified that four of the concerns have been fully investigated and were responded to in a June 5, 1992, letter from APS to the NRC. Seven of the concerns have been partially responded to in the June 5, 1992, letter, but additional information provided in the referenced letter requires further investigation.
The remaining nine concerns consist of information not previously identified, investigated, nor discussed in previous correspondence from APS to the NRC.
The enclosure to this letter provides the statu's of the twenty concerns identified in the referenced letter.
Thus far, APS'eview of the information contained in the referenced letter has not identified any safety significant issues.

Mr. J. B. Martin U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Response to NRC Request for Information Page 2 212-01113-WFC/ACR December 11, 1992 During a telephone conversation on December 3, 1992, between Mr. H. Wong, NRC Region V, and Mr. T. R. Bradish, APS, the due date for this response was extended to December 11, 1992.
However, because of the extensive effort necessary to thoroughly investigate several of the identified concerns, APS is requesting an additional extension to January 29, 1993.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact Mr. A. Carter Rogers at (602) 340-4041.
Sincerely, WFC/ACR/c.d.
