Gentlemen:
Letter from 0. Kirsch, Chief, Reactor Safety Branch, NRC, to M. F. Conway, Executive Vice President,
- Nuclear, APS, dated September 20, 1991.
Letter from M. F. Conway, Executive Vice President,
- Nuclear, APS to U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, dated October 24, 199).
Letter from 0. Kirsch, Chief, Reactor Safety Branch, NRC, to M. F. Conway, Executive Vice President,
- Nuclear, APS, dated February 28, 1992.
Thank you for your letter of July 10, 1992.
The letter provided additional information to supplement your original reply (Reference
- 2) to Notice of Violation A (Reference
- 1) concerning acceptance criteria for motor-operated valve (HOV) dynamic testing.
Your letter addressed the additional acceptance criteria discussed in Reference 3 that you expect to include for verification of NOV 'operability.
Me are concerned about the timeliness of your evaluation of test data, specifically, that you intend to return HOVs to service before verifying compliance with your test acceptance criteria.
These concerns were discussed with members of your staff on August 21 and 24, 1992.
Me understand that you intend to review your proposed time frame for data evaluation and provide additional information to the NRC addressing the issue of timeliness by September 21, 1992.
