Conway Executive Vice Pres ident Arizona Pub 1 ic Service Company Post Office Box 52034 Phoenix, Arizona 85072-2034 On July 18, 1989, the NRC staff issued Generic Letter 89-13 "Service Water System Problems Affecting Safety Related Equipment."
The generic letter requested that all licensees and construction permit holders take the actions described in the generic letter to ensure that their service water systems are in compliance and will be maintained in compliance with 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix A, General Design Criteria 44, 45 and 46 and Appendix B,Section XI.
Sincerely, By letter dated January 26, 1990, Arizona Public Service Company responded to the generic letter and indicated that programs either already exist or wi 11 be implemented for Units I, 2 and 3 prior to restart from any refueling outage beginning after April 18, 1990, to address the requested actions.
Therefore, the staff considers your response to NRC Generic Letter 89-13 to be satisfactory.
As also required by Generic Letter 89-13, confirmation that actions have been implemented is expected within 30 days of implementation.
