Request for Extension of Time to Respond to Generic Letter No. 89-06 File:
89-010-026 Arizona Public Service Co.
(APS) is requesting an extension of time to respond to the referenced letter until August 31, 1989.
We are making this -request for the following reasons.
(1)
APS received the Generic Letter on May 16,
- 1989, more than one month after it was dated by NRC.
(2)
APS intends to verify that all requirements of NUREG-0737, Supplement 1, for SPDS, have been considered in design and implementation.
This is beyond the requirements of the Generic Letter,
- however, we believe that it would be appropriate to do prior to certifying the status of the SPDS at Palo Verde.
(3)
APS must verify installation in all three Palo Verde Units.,
We consider this request to be reasonable when the above three factors are taken into consideration.
