By memorandum dated April 13, 1988, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) informed the NRC of the results of their observations of the offsite activities during the Palo Verde Emergency Preparedness Exercise on December 9, 1987.

The memorandum states that

".Based upon the results of this exercise, there continues to be reasonable assurance that appropriate protective measures can be implemented by the offsite jurisdictions.... to protect the health and safety of the public in the event of a radiological emergency."

A copy of the FEMA memorandum and report are enclosed for your information.
