our findings held by Messrs.
North and Cicotte with Messrs.
J.
M. Allen,
R.
M.
Butler and
W.
E.
Ide and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the
inspection.

Areas
examined during this inspection
are described
in the enclosed
inspection
report.
Within these
areas,
the inspection consisted of selective
examinations
of procedures
and representative
records,
interviews with
personnel,
and observations
by the inspector.
No violations of NRC requirements
were identified within the scope of this
inspection.
The enclosed
inspection report contains
the results of our review of LER No.
87-021-00 concerning isolation of the Unit 2'ost accident
sampling system
(PASS)..
This event
was also discussed
during the February
29,
1988 management
meeting at the
NRC Region
V office.
We consider your actions
discussed
during
the meeting to be appropriate
and expect that your completed review of this
PASS event will be
a thorough self-critical evaluation
and will consider the
similarities ot the
PASS event that occurred in May 1987.
It is our intent to
examine your final conclusions
and actions during a future inspection.
In accordance
with 10 .CFR 2.790(a),
a copy of this letter and the enclosure
will be placed in the
NRC Public Document
Room.
