inspection
on the
Low Pressure
Safety Injection
Pump (LPSIP) seal failures conducted
by Nr. Robert Pate
and Ns. Margaret
McCullough of this office on July 15,
1987, through July 17,
1987, of
activities authorized
by NRC License
No. NPF-41.
The different aspects
of the LPSI
pump seal failure examined during this
inspection are described
in the enclosed
inspection report.
Within these
areas,
the inspection consisted of examinations of procedures
and
representative
records,
interviews with personnel,
and observations
by the
inspectors.
Your investigation of this event
was not complete at the time of
this inspection
and several
questions
remain to be answered.
These
areas will
be addressed
in a future inspection.
No violations or deviations of NRC requirements
were identified within the
scope of this inspection.
In accordance
with 10 CFR 2.790(a),
a copy of this letter and the enclosure
will be placed in the
NRC Public Document
Room.
