REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - PALO VERDE UNIT 1 PIPING VERIFICATION TEST

SUMMARY

By letter dated April 18, 1986, you provided a report which summarized the results of the piping verification test program performed at Palo Verde Unit l.

In Section 2.7.1.1 of the report, the description of the tests indicates that the acceptability of the experienced vibrations was determined by visual inspection and supplemented by portable vibrometer readings.

In order that we may complete our review of that report, we request that you provide a detailed description of the procedure which was used to verify that the s)ress values did not exceed one half of the alternating stress intensity at 10 stress

cycles, as defined in Section III of the ASME Code.

Within two weeks of receipt of this letter, provide the date by when the requested information will be submitted.

If you have any questions regarding this letter, please let me know.

The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements of this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.
