SUBJECT:
MANAGEMENT MEETING TO DISCUSS PALO VERDE PROJECT Confirming our telephone discussion concerning the subject meeting, we plan to meet with you in Phoenix, Arizona on October 28, 1986, to discuss the Palo Verde project.
Attendees for the NRC will include representatives from the Offices of NRR, Region V,
18E and AEOD.
A proposed agenda for the meeting is enclosed.
As I have informed you, in consideration of the pending licensing decision for Palo Verde Unit 3 next spring, we have performed an assessment of the operating performance of Palo Verde, Units 1 and 2.
This assessment has revealed a number of concerns, which are identified in the enclosed agenda.
It is the purpose of this meeting to discuss these concerns and your responses to them.
Note that the agenda includes the opportunity for you to present your own assessment of project performance, and your plans for resolving our concerns prior to the Palo Verde Unit 3 licensing decision.
