Dear Mr. Knighton:

The purpose of this letter is to provide the status and confirm completion of actions required by License Conditions 2. C.(l). 8 and 2.C.(10).(C).

License condition 2.C(l).8 states:

"With respect to the Radiation Monitoring System, APS shall perform compensatory measures, complete testing and make operable all elements of the system in accordance with the schedule and commitments presented in ANPP Letter 34129 dated November 29, 1985."

The ANPP letter 34129 dated November .29, 1985, addressed the Radiation Monitoring System under three different categories: (1) the monitors required by Technical Specifications; (2) the monitors required by Regulatory Guide 1.97, Revision 2; and (3) the monitors not required by either the Technical Specifications or Regula-tory Guide 1.97, Revision 2.

The status of the monitors is as follows:.

1. The monitors required to be operable by the Technical Specifications have completed surveillance testing and have been declared operable.
2. The monitors required by Regulatory Guide 1 ~ 97, Revision 2, have been tested and placed in service.
3. The other monitors that were committed to be placed in service by initial criticality in ANPP Letter 34129 dated November 29, 1985, were placed in service.
4. Those monitors listed in the attachment to the letter dated November 29, 1985 (ANPP-34129) are to be tested and placed in service prior to June 30, 1986. Compensatory measures are being performed in the interim.

ANPP-36277 Page 2 License condition 2.C.(10) (C) states:

"APS shall implement the provisions of Regulat'ory Guide 1 97, Revision 2,

in accordance with the schedule provided in ANPP Letter 33965 dated November 8, 1985."

1 ANPP confirms that the variables, except those associated with the Post Accident Sampling System (PASS), have been tested. This exception is covered by a separate license condition and will be completed in accordance with License Condition AC.(11).
