r ENCLOSURE Palo Verde Units I, 2 and 3

Re uest For Additional Information Your new steam generator tube rupture (SGTR) analysis assumes the operation of the RCS vent system pressurizer flow path rather than the formally assumed auxiliary pressurizer spray system (APSS).

This new reliance on the RCS vent system:should be accompanied with a verification of the system's capability to perform its function as assumed.

Accordingly, please provide the following information:

a.

The results of tests or other plant data that demonstrate the capability of the RCS vent system to perform its function as assumed e.g., to depressurize the RCS at the rates assumed in the SGTR accident analysis.

The tests should have been conducted and the data obtained at plant conditions that either bound or are consistent with those assumed in the latest SGTR accident analyses.

b.

If such tests have not been done, or if the appropriate data is not available, either propose a schedule for obtaining this data or justify not doing so.
