Subject:
Backfilling and Restoration of Trench Excavations Near Palo Verde Site By letter dated July 29, 1982, you provided a response to our June 21, 1982 request for information regarding geologic features (scarps) that were identified as possible faults in the proximity of the Palo Verde site.
The information included the results obtained from two trenches excavated at the location where the geological features (scarps) were identified.
Your letter requests that we inform you whether sufficient information was provided so that you may complete backfilling and restoration of the trench excavations.
Confirming discussions with Kent Jones of your staff,.the NRC staff has determined that the information that you submitted, which included geologic mapping of the trench walls, provided sufficient evidence for the staff to conclude that the scarps are not fault-controlled.
Therefore, you may proceed to complete backfilling and restoration of the trench excavations.
