USE OF ASME CODE CASE H-310 FOR THE PALO VERDE,NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1, 2 AND 3, DOCKET NOS.
STH. 50-528/529/530 lte have completed our review of your request for authorization to use ASHE Code Case N-310 for application in the construction of components for the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1, 2 and 3, as identified in your letter ANPP-18218-JtQ/Hfg, dated June 16, 1981.
Code Case N-310, "Certification of Bolting tlaterials0 is not currently an acceptable Code Case without additional justification for its use, and should not be used in the construction of components for the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station.
Revision 0 of the Code Case has 'been" annulled by the ASt<E Boiler and Pressure Vessel Comittee and has been superseded by Revision 1 of the Code Case.
Therefore, the conditional approval of Revision 0 of Code Case H-31.0 has been withdrawn and it should not be used in the construction of. components.
Code Case N-310-1 is conditionally acceptable provided that you indicate in what way bolting does not meet NCA-3800 (or HA-3700). where such bolting will be used in the plant and how you will assure that the bolting, material properties required by the Equipment Support Design Specification are present in bolting covered by the case.
Therefore.
Code Case N-310-1 may be used in the construction of components for Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1, 2 and 3, subject to the conditions indicated above.
Use of the Code Case should be documented in the FSAR.
