On /he basis of our review to date of the Palo Verde FSAR, we find that additional information'its requ"'(de in order to continue our review.

The enclosure pro-vides a list of the additional information that Rill be required.

This informa-tion was previously discussed with Mr. Bill guinn of your staff.

In the following review areas, Round One and Rouhd Two guestions will be combined and forwarded to you at a later date:

Geotechnical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Seismic 8I Dynamic Load gualification, Fuel Surveillance and Security.

Draft SERs followed by meetings with your staff to discuss 'SER open items will be prepared in the following review areas:

Mechnical En-gineering, Seismology, Geology, Operator Licensing, Licensee qualifications, and Procedures and Test Review.

The remaining review areas are expected to be re-viewed using the Independent Design Review (IDR) approach.

Within 7 days of the receipt of this letter, please provide us with a schedule for responding to all the items in the enclosure.
