~~2/IPq, By letter dated December 3, 1980, you provided us with details of the proposed
,PVNGS fire detection system for our review.
You requested that we review your proposed system promptly because it has a ma5or effect on the overall plant design.
We met with APS staff members on February 26, 1981, to discuss selected fire detection system details.
Our fire protection consultant participated in this review process.
In this fire detection system, all of the multiplex signaling line circuits are Class A.
The initiating device circuits are Class B, but there are two separate detection systems in each fire zone.
Each fire detection system Gan alarm separately.
We have looked at the fire detection system details, jncluding the wiring scheme betweentthe fire alarm concentrators and the remote terminal cabinets, and4htermined that the total system meets the 1975 NFPA 72D Standard for a Class A system.
We reviewed a typical fire detection system installed in the Auxiliary Building in detail with regards to area
- coverage, design concept, and.NFPA Standard 72D, and we found that the system meets our fire protection gui, felines.
Based on our evaluation, we find the proposed fire detection system acceptable.
Sincerely.

Dear Mr. Van Brunt:
SUBJECT:
PALO VERDE FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM By letter dated December 3,
1980, you provided us with details of the proposed PVNGS fire detection system for our review.
You requested that we review your proposed system promptly because it has a major effect on the overall plant design.
Each fire detection system can alarm separately.
We have looked at the fire detection system details, including the wiring scheme between the five alarm concentrators and the remote terminal cabinets, and determined that the total system meets the 1975 NFPA 72D Standard for a Class A system.
We reviewed a typical fire detection system installed in the Auxiliary Building in detail with regards to area
- coverage, design concept, and NFPA Standard 72D, and we found that the system meets our five protection guidelines.
J Based on our evaluation, we find the proposed fire detection system acceptable.
