Docket Nos.:

STN 50-528/529/530 MEMORANDUM FOR:

Darrell G. Eisenhut, Director, Division of Licensing THRU:

FROM:

Robert L. Tedesco, Assistant Director for Licensing, Division of Licensing Frank J. Miraglia, Acting Chief, Licensing Branch P3, Division of Licensing Janis Kerrigan, Project Manager, Licensing Branch g3, Division of Licensing

SUBJECT:

REQUEST FOR CASELOAD FORECAST PANEL VISIT TO PALO VERDE A caseload forecast panel visit was held at Palo Verde on October 28, 1980.

At that time, due primarily to low projected cable pull rates, the panel con-cluded that a 5/83 fuel load date was more realistic than the applicant's date of 11/82.

At that visit, the panel stated that we might consider a follow-up visit at the end of the first quarter of 1981.

APS, as stated in a letter dated February 9, 1981 (attached),

disagrees <<ith the NRC fuel load estimate and states that they are "...looking forward to another visit from Mr. Lovelace at the end of the first quarter of 1981 as was agreed at the exit interview on October 30, 1980.U Since the average cable pull rate at Palo Verde has been high since the last visit. I recommend that a panel visit be scheduled for early April, as requested by APS.
