SUMMARY
OF INDEPENDENT DESIGN REVIEW (IDR) MEETING OF THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM An IDR meeting of the Fire Protection System was held on February 25, 1981 in Phoenix, Arizona.
A transcript of the meeting is scheduled to be available on March 11, 1981.
Representatives of Bechtel discussed the general design of the system followed by a presentation on the conformance of the design with regu-latory requirements.
Schedules and work plans for "future tasks" (control room fire evaluation, RCP lube oil system, train and channel separation study) were also presented.
The NRC partiCipants (after caucusing) informally recommended that a follow-up IDR board meeting be established to address the fire protec-'ion systems scheduled to be designed at a future date.
The NRC stated that it was our opinion that the "future tasks" included such a significant portion of the scope of NRC's review of the fire protection system that those "future tasks" would need to be fully addressed before an SER could be written.
The NRC observers also commented on the control room fire evaluation criteria being used by -Bechtel.
