Reportable Condition Relating to the Inspection of ASME Section III, Class 3

Dear Sir:
Attached, is our preliminary written report of a possible reportable deficiency under 10CFR50.55(e) relating to a visual inspection of circumferential weld joints on ASME Section III, Class 3 piping systems between 2" and 4" in diameter, rather than inspection by liquid penetrant as required by the 1975 Winter Addenda.
The results of the weld inspection are necessary for an appropriate analysis of the safety significance of any defect that may be present in three welds that were not detectable by visual inspection.
This analysis will be made upon the completion of our reinspection efforts.
It is anticipated that the inspection will take approximately 90 days.
