USE OF ASME CODE CASE N-416 FOR THE WNP-2, WPPSS NUCLEAR PROJECT NO.
2 (WNP-2)
In your letter, G02-85-813, dated June 14, 1985 the Washington Public Power Supply System requested authorization to use ASME Section XI Code Case N-416 for application in the repair or replacement of Class 2 piping for the WNP-2 plant.
This Code Case N-416, "Alternate Rules for Hydrostatic Testing of Repair or Replacement of Class 2 Piping Section XI, Division 1," is expected to be endorsed by the NRC in a future revision of Regulatory Guide 1.147, "Inservice Inspection Code Case Acceptability ASME Section XI Division 1."
It is, therefore, an acceptable Code Case which is approved as written with no additional requirements other than those specified in the Code Case.
Code Case N-416 may be used at the WNP-2 plant in the repair or replacement of Class 2 piping within the limitations stated in the "Inquiry" and "Reply" section of the Code Case.
Use of the Code Case should be documented in a future Amendment to the FSAR.
