Interim Re ort POTENTIALLY REPORTABLE CONDITION MPPSS NUCLEAR PROJECT NO.
2 SPRAY POND A LEAKAGE WASHINGTON PUBLIC POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM DOCKET NO. 50-397 LICENSE NO.
CPPR-93 Potential Problem and Reference Notification In early January, 1981, Ultimate Heat Sink Spray Pond A was filled with water.
After a few days, it was observed that the water level had dropped.
Mater level and evaporation data were then taken to determine if a leak existed.
A leakage of approximately 65 gpm was identified.
Notification of a potentially reportable condi tion was made on February 9, 1981, per the cover letter.
A roach to Resolution Additional data will be obtained to verify the leakage rate.
Spray Pond A will then be drained and inspected for the leakage'ath.
Once the leakage path is identified, an appropriate solution will be determined.
Spray Pond B will be investigated at the same time to determine if a similar situation exists.
Status of Pro osed Resolution Spray Pond B has been filled.
Mater level and evaporation data are being obtained for both ponds.
Dela of the final Re ort The final report is being delayed until the leakage path has been iden-tified and an appropriate solution determined.
Projected Completion of Corrective Action and Submittal Date of Completed Re ort Any corrective action that may be identified will be initiated and the final report submitted by June 1,
1981.
