Resolution of the PORV Block Valve Operability Restart Issue.
In the NRC inspection report No. 50-244/89-04 and its cover letter dated April 28,
- 1989, a concern was identified regarding the operability of the PORV Block Valves that were being replaced during the current outage.
We also informed you in the same inspection report and cover letter that the operability concern of PORV Block Valves has to be resolved prior to restart of your facility.
In your letter dated May 3, 1989, you have provided additional information to demonstrate the operability of the new PORV Block Valves.
The Region I staff reviewed this additional information and found -it to be comprehensive and responsive to our concerns regarding the operability of the subject valves.
Based on this review, we concluded that the technical and safety concerns associated with this restart issue are fully resolved.
However, the enforcement
- concerns, remain open pending the receipt and review of your response to the Notice of Violation issued with our letter of April 28, 1989.
Your cooperation with us in this matter is appreciated.
