FOR GENERIC LETTER 83-28, ITEM 2.2 (PART I) SAFETY-RELATED EQUIPMENT CLASSIFICATION FOR R.E.

GINNA (TAC NO. 53675)

Generic Letter (GL) 83-28 Item 2.2 (Part I) required licensees to describe in considerable detai 1 their program for classifying all safety-related components other than reactor trip system components as safety-related on documents and in information handling systems that are used to control plant activities that may affect these components.

By letter dated June 4, 1987, in response to NRC letter dated March 27, 1987, additional information was provided with regards to Item 2.2 of GL 83-28.

The enclosed SER (Enclosure

1) documents our concurrence and finds that the licensee's responses for Item 2.2 (Part 1) are acceptable.

The enclosed Technical Evaluation Report (TER) (Enclosure 2) forms the basis for this concurrence.

Item 2.2 (Part I) is hereby closed.

Your responses and requested additional information with regards to Item 2.2 (Part I) will be further evaluated with respect to a forthcoming NRC generic

'letter which wi 11 address licensee programs for vendor interfaces.

TAC No. 53675 therefore remains open.
