SUBJECT:
ST.
LUCIE PLANT UNIT NO.
2 - SCHEDULE FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ATWS RULE (TAC NO. 59145)
This letter is in response to your letter dated February 10, 1988, concerning the above subject.
You requested that the St. Lucie Plant, Unit No.
2 ATWS rule implementation schedule be delayed until the fifth outage after July 24, 1984, currently scheduled for February 1989.
The staff is currently reviewing your July 15, 1987 submittal on this issue, and expects to issue its safety evaluation this year.
Since you will require a reasonable period of time to complete engineering and procurement activities following the staff's approval, the staff agrees that it is not feasible to implement this plant modification during the upcoming outage.
We hereby grant your request for delay for Unit No.
