January 17, 1990 Confirm,atory Action Letter from A. Bert Davis to Cordell Reed

In response to the Dresden Unit 2 reactor scram caused by the loss of the 20 condensate/condensate booster pump, an Augmented Inspection Team (AIT) was established to review your investigation of the equipment failures associated with. the reactor scram.

Our understanding of the elements of your investigative process were outlined in the referenced CAL.

This letter confirms the conversation between Mr. R. Cooper, NRC Branch Chief, Division of Reactor Safety and Mr. J. Eenigenburg, Commonwealth Edison Company Plant Manager, Dresden on January 22, 1990.

Based on this conversation, we*

agreed that the actions you were taking satisfy the requirements of the CAL and therefore, concurred with your decision to restart Unit 2.

We further understand that you will provide a written report of the results of your investigation including root causes and corrective actions for the problems listed iri the CAL within 30 days of the receipt of this letter.

Accordingly, the referenced CAL (RIII-90-001) is terminated.
