The staff has completed its evaluation of the Conunonwealth Edison Company (CE Co) responses to Generic Letter 82.... 33 which requested that CE Co* provide a report describing how the post-accipent monltoring instrumentation at Dresden meets the guidelines of Regulatory~Guide 1.97 as applied to emergency response facilities. The staff's Safety Evaluation, which includes the EG&G Idaho Inc.

Technical Evaluation Report, is enclosed. *The staff has determined that the instrumentation provided by CECo for satisfying the reconvnendations of Regulatory Guide 1.97, Revision 2 is acceptable except for the neutron flux monitoring instrumentation which does not have environmentally and seismically qualified cables, detectors, and detector drives inside the primary containment. It is the staff's position that CECo should evaluate the recently developed systems and install neutron monitoring instrumentation which satis.fies the Regulatory Guide 1.97 criteria.

It is requested which within 60 days of receipt of this letter, CECo provide a response and schedule with regard to the actions to be taken to comply with the staff's position on* the neutron flux monitorihg instrumentation.

"The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not-required under P.L.96-511."
