This refers to the special inspection and response to the event of August 16,
1985, when Dresden Unit 2 experienced a loss of offsite power.
The inspection
and response were conducted by members of the resident and regional staffs and
related to activities at Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 1, 2, and 3
authorized by Operating License No. DPR-02,_No. DPR-19, No. DPR-25 and to the
discussions with members of your staff during the event and at the conclusion
of the inspection.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the inspection. Within the areas examined, the inspection consisted of a
review of actions and observations during the event, subsequent review of
associated correspondence, modifications and interviews with personnel.
No violations with NRC requirements were identified during the inspection.
During the event, we noted that the actions and responses of the members of
your staff on shift and the response personnel were accurate and appropriate
with *respect to their evaluations, actions and timeliness.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790, of the NRC "Rules of Practice", Part 2, Title
10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosure(s)
will be placed in the NRG Public Document Room.
