IN-PROGRESS AUDIT OF THE DRESDEN DETAILED CONTROL ROOM DESIGN REVIEW

~resden Nuclear Power St.ation, Unit Nos. 2 and 3 An in-progress audit of the Dresden Station Unit 2 and 3 Detailed Control Room Design Review (DCRDR) will be conducted January 31 through February 3, 1984 by personnel from the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation's Human Factors Engineering Branch (HFEB) and their contractors. These dates hav~

been discussed with Mr. Phil Lau of CECo and this is *formal confirmation of CECo's acceptability.

Two members fro~ the HFEB and two repr~sentati~es from Science Applications Incorporation (SAI), their contractor, will perform the audit. Mr. William Russell, Deputy Director.of the Division of Human Factors Safety, is planning to be at the site on February 2 and 3, 1984 and will attend the exit interview.

These personnel will be escorted at all times inside the site perimeter and will take the t hour radiation training course upon first arrival.

In preparation for the audit, you should provide the following:

1.

Provide review team personnel knowledgeable in each of the DCRDR tasks to discuss the DCRDR process and respond to staff questions during the audit.

2.

Have documentation available of the review results.to date, including HEDs identified, and any review materials, such as checklists and data collection forms.

3.

Provide access to the site and control room area for NRC staff and its contractors.

We also request clearance to bring earner.a equipment on to the site and to take such photographs in the control room or other areas which will ~ssist us in evaluating the DCRDR and documenting our audit.

Provide conference or office space for both the staff's meetings with the licensee review team and for the NRC audit team to meet privately.
