Docket No. 50-237 LS05-83-lO-Oll Mr. Dennis L. Farrar Director of Nuclear Licensing Commonwealth Edison Company Post Office Box 767 Chicago, Illinois 60690
Dear Mr. Farrar:
October' 6, 1983.
SUBJECT:
STATUS OF EVALUATION COMPLETION SCHEDULES FROM THE INTEGRATED ASSESSMENT - DRESDEN UNIT NO. 2 In the Integrated Plant Safety Assessment Report (IPSAR) for.your facility, the staff presented the schedules for implementation of corrective actions resulting from the integrated assessment and completion of ongoing evalua-tions. The implementation schedules for hardware and prbcedural changes
- have been referred to our Regional Office for followup.
The completion schedules for the ongoing evaluations control the schedule for the staff's supplement to the IPSAR which will describ~ the.resolution of those issues.
Over the past several months, we have noti~ed th~t.some of the completion schedules for the ongoing evaluations are moving further out in time.
These slippages not only delay the completion of the supplement to the IPSAR, but they also exacerbate the scheduling of staff resources to review the results of your evaluations.
Where the ongoing evaluations will take a relatively long time to complete, we request that you establish intermediate milestones for the staff to review the evaluation methods and acceptance criteria.
In that way, the supplement to the IPSAR can present the overall resolution of the Systematic Evaluation Program for your facility at an early time, without having to wait for the detailed analyses to be completed.
We request that, within 30 days following your receipt of this letter, you formally update the completion schedules presented in the IPSAR for your facility.
Thi.s request affects fewer than 10 respondents and, therefore, an OMB clearance is not required in accordance with P.L.96-511.
