SEP TOPIC VIII'-1.A, POTENTIAL EQUtPMENT FAILURES* ASSOCI~ATED WITH A DEGRADED GRID VOLTAGE - DRESDEN UNI'T 2 By letter dated May 19, 1982, the Commission issued Amendment No. 72 to Provisional Operating License 1No. DPR-19 for Dresden Untt 2.

The

amendment approved change~ to the provisions of the. Appendix A Technical Specifications pertaining to undervoltage protection.* *rncluded w-1th the amendment was a staff Safety Evaluation {SE) and an EG&G Technical Evaluation Report.

These report~ concluded that the Dresden Unit 2

.. design was acceptable with respect to degraded grid voltage for the Class l E system.

Previously, by letter dated October 7, 1981,.the staff issued a.SE regard-ing Multi-plant Action No. B-48 (MP B-48), "Adequacy of Station Electric Distribution Voltage~" That SE determined that the voltage analysis and test results that you submitted frir staff review were ac'ceptable.

Since the review criteria for SEP Topic VIII-1.A is identical to that.

-used in our analysis-ef 'MP -B-48 and Amendment No. 72, the staff has conclu-.

ded that Topic VIlI-1.A has been completed satisfactorily.
