This refers to the routine safety inspectl.on conducted by Mr. R. A .. Paul
of this office on July 21-31, 1981, of activities at Dresden Nuclear P'ower
Station, Units 2 and 3, authorized by NRC Operating License No. DPR-19 .and
No .. DPR-25 and to the discussion of our findings with Mr. Farrar and members
of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection. *
The inspection was an examination of activities conducted under your license
as they relate to radiation safety and to compliance with the Commission's
rules and regulatiOns and with the conditions of your license ... The inspec-
tion consisted of a .selective examination of procedures and rep.resent'ative
records, observations, independent measurements, and interviews with
personnel.
The inspector also ex~mined actions you have taken with res~ect to the
matters identified in your letter dated October 22, 1980.
These matters
are discussed in the enclosed report.
During this inspection, certain of your activities appeared to be in non-
compliance with NRC requirements, as described in the enclosed Appendix A.
The inspection showed that action had been taken to correct the identified
noncompliance and to prevent recurrence.
Those actions are described in
Settion 6 of the enclo~ed report. If this description is accur~te, then
no reply to the noncompliance .is required and we have no further questions
regarding this matter at this time.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
this lette.r and the enclosed inspection report will be plated in the NRC' s
Publl.c Document Room.
If this report contains any information that you or
your contractors believe to be exempt from disclosure under 10 CFR 9.5(a)(4),
- it is necessary that you (a) notify this o.ffice by telephone within seven (7)
days from the date of* this letter of your intention to file .a request fcir

withholding; and (b) submit within twenty-five (25) days from the date of
this letter a written application to this office to withhold such infor-
mat.ion.
Section 2. 790(b) (1) requires .that any such application must be
accompanied by an affidavit executed by the owner of the information which
identifies the document or part sought to be withheld, and which contains
a full statement of the reasons which are the bases for the claim that the
information should be withheld from public disclosure.
This section further
requires the statement to address with specificity the considerations listed
The information sought to be withheld shall be
incorporated *as far as possible .into a* separate part of the affidavit.
If
we do not hear from you in this regard within the specified periods noted
above, a copy *of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be
placeq in the Public Document Room.
