OF MEETING WITH COMMONWEALTH EDISON TO DISCUSS INDIVIDUAL PLANT EVALUATION/ACCIDENT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (TAC.NOS. 74405, 74406, 74456, 74457, 74.92, 74493, 74425, 74426, 74389, 74390, 74382, AND 74383)
On June 5, 1991, the NRC staff met with Commonwealth Edison Company (the licensee, CECo) and its consultants to discuss CECo's Individual Plant Evaluation/Accident Management (IPE/AM) program.
A list of the attendees is provided as Enclosure 1~ A copy of the slides presented is provide~ as.
The meeting had been requested by CECo to provide NRC personnel° with an overview understanding of CECo's IPE/AM program.
It was intended to be the first of a series of meetings on this subject.
Among the items p~esented
.. by the licensee and its consultants were a description of the organization working on the program, schedule for completion, key features of the technical approach, some preliminary insights based on the work done thus. far, and a proposal for _future meetings.
In addition to personnel from CECo, personnel from Fauske & Associates, Tenera, and Westinghouse are working on the IPE/AM Program.
The effort has already begun on Zion and will continue lHltil December 1994, with the completion of the LaSalle IPE.
In the presentation concerning the technical approach, CECo discussed the emphasis on realism, the development of plant response trees, and the treatment of recovery actions and phenomenological uncertainties.

Commonwealth Edison Company June 19, 1991 The next meeting was tentatively scheduled for September/October 1991to disc~ss accident sequence modeling and certain aspects of the deterministic treatment of plant behavtor.
CECo suggested that this meeting be held in Illinois Sb that the NRC could see the areas that are being used to tonduct experiments to support the IPE/AM Program.
