1. None.

D.. PRECAUTIONS

1. None.

E. . LIMITATIONS AND ACTIONS

1. From and after the date that one of the two 125/250 VDC battery systems is made or found to be inoperabl~ for any reason, continued reactor operation is permissible only during the succeedi.ng seven days unless such battery system is ~ooner made operable.

F. PROCEDURE

1. Placing Charger in Service.
a. CLOSE the charger 480-V suppli breaker (MCC 28-2 fo~

2 charger, MCC 29-2 or 39-2 for 2/3 charger, ~nd MCC.

38-2 for 3 charger).

b. The supplies for the 2/3 charger are key interlocked
  • so that only one may be closed.
c. CLOSE the a-c breaker at the charger. cabinet.
d. CLOSE the d-c breaker at the charger cabinet.
e. CLOSE the d-c breaker CHARGER to BATTERY BUS 2(3) at 250 VDC turbine building MCC 2(3).
2. Nonnal. operation.
    • :a~::_;.;_<;rite charger control will be in .FLOAT. Verify t_hat
  • ~~ttery ~oltage is being maintained, and the charger is at 260.4 volts.

. a* Equalizing battery * .* .. *.

(1) Verify tfiat the eleetrolyte levels in the cells_

are between the low level 3nd hieh level marker~.

Fill with water if low. Avoid spilling ~ater

. o.n top of cells. If any is_ spilled, wipe it dry.to avoid shurti.ng cells.

(2) Turn dial on battery chareer to 24 hour2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> equalize. Repeat St1?p 6 two adMti1)nal tir.1es. The charger should re<Id 270.0 volts during the equalize charge.

(3)

  • Battery is to be equalized for at lc;ist 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br />.

(4) Giv~ the time of $tart of cqu3lizing charge to the Shift Engineer so he can record it and passA. pp. ROVE it on to the following ~hifts. ~ *

(5) Verify periodically' the electrolyte levels. SEP 11 '79 (6) After appro~imately 23 hours2.662037e-4 days <br />0.00639 hours <br />3.80291e-5 weeks <br />8.7515e-6 months <br /> of charging ti.me, turn the timer dial up again to 24 hot.lrs. *D.O.S.R.

(7) After approximately 69 hours7.986111e-4 days <br />0.0192 hours <br />1.140873e-4 weeks <br />2.62545e-5 months <br />. of chargirig time turn dial up to at least 3 hours3.472222e-5 days <br />8.333333e-4 hours <br />4.960317e-6 weeks <br />1.1415e-6 months <br />.

(8) . When cha_rging current has tapered and stabilized .*

(no further ieduction for 3 hours3.472222e-5 days <br />8.333333e-4 hours <br />4.960317e-6 weeks <br />1.1415e-6 months <br />), continue '

charging until there is no further increase in_

the lowest cell voltage. Perform this by doing:

the following at t~e end of the 66th, 67th, 6~th; 69th, 70th, 7lst and.72nd hours:

(a) With a voltmeter, find the lowest cell v6ltage-and record on attachment A.

(b) Read the charging current off the battery

  • charger_ and record on attachment A.

(9) If no changes in the readings are noted, terminate equalization. If there is a change, continue steps. i~ (6) until no chang~ is found.

(a) Terminate equalizing by turning equalizer timer dial to zero.

b. Place the.charger in the.EQUALIZE mode for the condit;ions listed below.
1;i:.

(1) The temperature corrected specific gravity of any R~11 is less than 1.205. (10 points below full charge value).

(2) When any .cell has a voltage less than 2.13 voi'ts~ (.04

~olts below nominal voltage of 2.17 volts).

(3) When the battery has received an emergency discharge lasting 15 minutes or more.

4. *.Transfer 250 VDC *reactor buildi.ng MCC to alternate source.
a. OPEN the reactor huildi.ng ~iCC fcc<l brL'<.1ker. from th!:! cipposite nni*

turbine bui. lding :-tCC :rnd tag i t OUT-OF--SEi\VICE.

b. Verify that the rr;Ktor building MCC frcd brl!<lker from the respective u11it turbine building MCC is* open, and tag it OUT-OF-SERVICE *.
c. Remove the copper links from their present location*

and insert them in the altern;ite feed location.

  • d. Clear the OUT-OF-SERVICE cards and CLOSE, the reactor building MCC feed b~eaker from the respective turbine building Mee.
5. Removing a charger from service.
a. Verify that another* charger is connected to the ba~tery bus.

. b. . OPEN the CHARGER TO BATTERY BUS breaker at the 250. * .

VDC turbine building MCC 2(3).

c. OPEN the charger d-c breaker.

d~ OPEN the charger a-c breaker.

e. OPEN the charger supply breaker at the 480 volt r.iOt'ot control center. (MCC 28-2 Unit 2, MCC 38-2 Unit 39
  • MCC 29-2 or MCC 39-2 Unit 2/3).
f. Rack out the breaker and place cards as required.
