None.

E.

. LIMITATIONS AND ACTIONS

1.

From and after the date that one of the two 125/250 VDC battery systems is made or found to be inoperabl~ for any reason, continued reactor operation is permissible only during the succeedi.ng seven days unless such battery system is ~ooner made operable.

F.

PROCEDURE

1.

Placing Charger in Service.

a.

CLOSE the charger 480-V suppli breaker (MCC 28-2 fo~

2 charger, MCC 29-2 or 39-2 for 2/3 charger, ~nd MCC.

38-2 for 3 charger).

b.

The supplies for the 2/3 charger are key interlocked

  • so that only one may be closed.
c.

CLOSE the a-c breaker at the charger. cabinet.

d.

CLOSE the d-c breaker at the charger cabinet.

e.

CLOSE the d-c breaker CHARGER to BATTERY BUS 2(3) at 250 VDC turbine building MCC 2(3).

2.

Nonnal. operation.

3.
    • :a~::_;.;_<;rite charger control will be in.FLOAT.

Verify t_hat

  • ~~ttery ~oltage is being maintained, and the charger is at 260.4 volts.

Equalizing battery

  • DOP 6900-1 Revision 3 (1)

Verify tfiat the eleetrolyte levels in the cells_

are between the low level 3nd hieh level marker~.

Fill with water if low.

Avoid spilling ~ater

. o.n top of cells.

If any is_ spilled, wipe it dry.to avoid shurti.ng cells.

(2)

Turn dial on battery chareer to 24 hour2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
equalize.

Repeat St1?p 6 two adMti1)nal tir.1es.

The charger should re<Id 270.0 volts during the equalize charge.

(3)

  • Battery is to be equalized for at lc;ist 72 hours8.333333e-4 days
0.02 hours
1.190476e-4 weeks
2.7396e-5 months
.

(4)

Giv~ the time of $tart of cqu3lizing charge to the Shift Engineer so he can record it and passA. pp. ROVE it on to the following ~hifts.

~

(5)

Verify periodically' the electrolyte levels.

SEP 11 '79 (6)

After appro~imately 23 hours2.662037e-4 days
0.00639 hours
3.80291e-5 weeks
8.7515e-6 months
of charging ti.me,

  • D.O.S.R.

turn the timer dial up again to 24 hot.lrs.

(7)

After approximately 69 hours7.986111e-4 days
0.0192 hours
1.140873e-4 weeks
2.62545e-5 months
. of chargirig time turn dial up to at least 3 hours3.472222e-5 days
8.333333e-4 hours
4.960317e-6 weeks
1.1415e-6 months
.

(8). When cha_rging current has tapered and stabilized.*

(no further ieduction for 3 hours3.472222e-5 days
8.333333e-4 hours
4.960317e-6 weeks
1.1415e-6 months
), continue charging until there is no further increase in_

the lowest cell voltage.

Perform this by doing:

the following at t~e end of the 66th, 67th, 6~th; 69th, 70th, 7lst and.72nd hours:

(a)

With a voltmeter, find the lowest cell v6ltage-and record on attachment A.

(b)

Read the charging current off the battery

  • charger_ and record on attachment A.

(9)

If no changes in the readings are noted, terminate equalization.

If there is a change, continue steps. i~ (6) until no chang~ is found.

(a)

Terminate equalizing by turning equalizer timer dial to zero.

Place the.charger in the.EQUALIZE mode for the condit;ions listed below.

1;i:.

(1)

(2)

The temperature corrected specific gravity of any R~11 is less than 1.205.

(10 points below full charge value).

When any.cell has a voltage less than 2.13 voi'ts~

~olts below nominal voltage of 2.17 volts).

(.04 (3)

When the battery has received an emergency discharge lasting 15 minutes or more.
