FW: Browns Ferry LAR to Revise Modifications Related to NFPA 805, CAC Nos. MF9814, 9815, and 9816 Gordon/Ben, By letter dated June 7, 2017 (ADAMS Accession No. ML17158B285), Tennessee Valley Authority submitted a license amendment request for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, Units 1, 2, and 3 in order to revise modifications related to National Fire Protection Association Standard 805. The purpose of this e-mail is to provide the results of the NRC staffs acceptance review of this request. The acceptance review was performed to determine if there is sufficient technical information in scope and depth to allow the staff to complete its detailed technical review. The acceptance review is also intended to identify whether the application has any readily apparent information insufficiencies in its characterization of the regulatory requirements or the licensing basis of the plant.
The NRC staff has reviewed the application and concluded that it provides technical information in sufficient detail to enable the staff to complete its detailed technical review and make an assessment regarding the acceptability of the proposed amendment. Given the lesser scope and depth of the acceptance review as compared to the detailed technical review, there may be instances in which issues that impact the staffs ability to complete the detailed technical review are identified despite completion of the acceptance review The NRC staff estimates that this request will take approximately 220 hours0.00255 days <br />0.0611 hours <br />3.637566e-4 weeks <br />8.371e-5 months <br /> to complete. The staff expects to complete this review in approximately 6 months, which is December of 2017. These estimates are based on the staffs initial review of the application and they could change, due to several factors including requests for additional information, and unanticipated additions of scope to the review. If there are emergent complexities or challenges in our review that would cause changes to the initial forecasted completion date or significant changes in the forecasted hours, the reasons for the changes, along with the new estimates, will be communicated to you.
