SUBJECT:

SUPPLEMENTAL SAFETY EVALUATION OF THE SAFETY PARAMETER DISPLAY SYSTEM SUSQUEHANNA STEAM ELECTRIC STATION UNITS I AND 2 TAC NOS.

50388 AND 51290)

In Generic Letter (GL) 89-06, "Task Action Plan Item I.D.2 - Safety Parameter Display System - 10 CFR

$50.54(f)", we asked the licensees to certify whether their Safety Parameter Display System (SPDS) meets the requirements of NUREG-0737, Supplement 1.

In GL 89-06, we also stated that our reviews had verified that Susquehanna Steam Electric Station (SSES)

Units 1 and 2 have fully satisfactory SPDS and a response to GL 89-06 was not necessary.

The bases for our conclusions are documented in the enclosed supplemental safety evaluation.

Based on our supplemental evaluations, we conclude that your SPDS fully meets the eight requirements identified in Supplement 1 to NUREG-0737, and the staff actions on TAC Numbers 50388 and 51290 are complete.

Sincerely,

Enclosure:
