Systematic Assessment of Licensee Performance (SALP)
This letter refers to the annual SALP for the Susquehanna Steam Electric Sta-tion, Units 1 and 2, to the onsite discussion of that SALP with PP&L corporate and site personnel on May 17,
- 1983, and to your June 6,
1983 letter responding to the SALP findings.
- Overall, we found that your performance consistently demonstrated a high degree of management involvement in and control of facility activities, a sound and conservative safety approach to engineering and operational
- aspects, thorough corrective actions, and effective control over construction, preoperational and operational activities.
You are to be commended for your sound management approach to the operation of Unit 1 and the construction of Unit 2.
The onsite SALP discussion centered on the SALP Report and your efforts to im-prove performance.
We believe that discussion improved mutual understanding of your activities and our regulatory program.
Our review of that discussion and of your SALP comments noted the efforts to improve performance you identified and your perspective on Unit 2 operator training.
The review also concluded that modification or supplementation of the SALP Report is not necessary.
We are issuing the as written report together with your comments, a list of SALP meeting attendees, and a copy of our previous letter to you concerning this SALP.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a),
a copy of this report issue letter and its enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
No reply to this letter is required.
