1987, we have enclosed a copy of the Franklin Research Center report, "Analysis of High Strength Bolts,"

FRC Report F-6177-1, for your information.

Bolts identified as FRC bolt numbers 6177-15, 6177-16 and 6177-17 were provided by PGSE.

The test result for bolt No. 6177-15 is considered to be invalid because the wrong wedge was used for the wedge tensile strength test.

As shown in the enclosed SPS Technologies Test Certification No. 870103 dated 1-5-87, a

10'edge was used versus the required 6'edge since this bolt was fully threaded.

Accordingly, this bolt has been dropped from the survey.

Our letter to you of February 13, 1987 incorrectly reported to you that this bolt had not passed this test.

We apologize for this error and regret any inconvenience this may have caused you.
