SERVICE WATER SYSTEM OPERATIONALPERFORMANCE INSPECTION AT NINE MILEPOINT, UNITS 1 and 2 This letter confirms the dates of June 28 - July 2, and July 12 - 16, 1993 for a service water system operational performance inspection {SWSOPI) at Nine Mile Point, Units 1 and 2. A pre-inspection visit by the team leader and some team members is also scheduled during the week of June 14, 1993, to gather information requested in the enclosure to this letter.

The primary objectives of this inspection willbe to assess the design, operation, maintenance, surveillance, and testing aspects of the service water system (SWS) at ¹ine Mile Point, Units 1 and 2 and to determine whether the SWS is capable of performing its intended safety functions during all plant operating and accident conditions.

The team will also evaluate the implementation of the quality assurance and corrective action programs as related to the SWS and your planned and completed actions in response to Generic Letter 89-13, "Service Water System Problems Affecting Safety-Related Equipment".

We request that you make available the information listed in the enclosure for each unit during the pre-inspection visit scheduled for the week of June 14, 1993.
