By letter dated April 13, 1989, Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation submitted its response to the station blackout rule (10 CFR 50.63).
The NRC staff is reviewing your submittal and has identified information that is required to continue our review.
The enclosed Request for Additional Information identifies the information we need to continue our evaluation of your submittal.
The requested additional information was identified to members of your staff during a telephone conference call on October 9, 1990.
Please provide this information to us within 45 days of the date of this letter so that we can complete our evaluation in a timely manner.

Request For Additional Information Regarding Station Blackout Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation Nine Mile Point Unit I Docket No. 50-220 The following information is requested to continue the station blackout review.
1.
The independence of offsite power grouping is concluded to be "I3." If it is believed that the grouping should be "I2," provide details supporting such a classification.
2.
Provide details of the loss of instrumentation and controls due to the shedding of the MG sets to conserve the Class-1E battery capacity.
3.
Provide an analysis of RCS inventory assuming a leak rate of an 18 gpm per pump (5 pumps) and the maximum allowable technical specification leak rate.
4.
Provide an analysis supporting the condensate inventory requirements (including appropriate references) and describe the manual actions needed to control the emergency condensers.
Identify the location of the gravity flow feed valve.
5.
Provide an analysis of the adequacy of the removal of control room ceiling panels and the appropriate location of the removed panels to provide sufficient air flow for, better heat dissipation in the control room.
6.
Provide an analysis of the temperature rise in the drywell.
7.
The quality assurance requirements for the SBO equipment need to be listed.
