1990 Thank you for taking the time to come to Region I to introduce some of your management team to regional personnel and to briefly discuss your plans, regard-ing the planned reorganization of the Nuclear Division of the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation.
The Niagara Mohawk personnel included
- you, Joe Firlit, Stan Wilczek and Pete Francisco, and the Region I personnel were Tim Martin, Bill Kane, Glenn Meyer and myself.
You discussed your interest in reorganizing the Nuclear Division to strengthen the authority of the plant managers and to pro-'id'e better accountability for the various functions at Nine Mile Point and the corporate office.
'You stated your plan to have an executive team comprised of
- yourself, the four operational senior managers reporting directly to you, and the plant
- managers, and provided a tentative organization chart showing the currently planned organization alignments In addition, you discussed estab-lishing a business
- plan, which would eventually include the objectives of the Nuclear Improvement Plan and would have specific goals in the areas of safety, cost, production, and professionalism.
Our discussions on the planned organization centered on understanding how the reorganized Nuclear Division would perform the various functions and activities regarding your licensed activities.
No technical, licensing, or regulatory topics were discussed.
Niagara Mohawk did not request any
- actions, and Region I did not take any actions or grant any approvals.
We appreciate your effort in arranging the visit and believe the visit was beneficial.
