Dear Nr. Bur khardt:

SUBJECT:

SCHEDULE FOR PROCEDURES GENERATION PACKAGE REVISIONS (TAC NOS.

44318 and 69206)

Our letter of October 27, 1989 transmitted a safety evaluation on the Nine Mile Point, Unit 1, Procedures Generation Package (PGP).

The letter requested the Niagara Mohawk Corporation to revise the PGP and the associated emergency operating procedures (EOPs) to reflect the concerns in the safety evaluation within 180 days of the date of the October 27, 1989 letter.

Subsequent to the issuance of that letter, the staff has determined that such changes should be made within a reasonable period of time, e.g.,

the next planned revision of your PGP and EOPs.

Your letter of March 9, 1990 indicated that the next revision of your PGP and EOPs would take place by June 1, 1991, or the completion of the mid-cycle

outage, whichever comes later.

Accordingly, we find the proposal contained in your letter of March 9, 1990, to make such revisions consistent with the schedule for your upgrade to revision 4 of the EOPs, to be acceptable.

Sincerely, ORIGINAL SIGNED BY) cc:
