by Hr. J. Furia of
this office on December
11-15,
1989, of activities authorized
by NRC License

and NPF-33,
and to the discussion of our findings held by Hr. J.
Furia with Hr. K. Dahlberq,
Hr. R. Abbott and other members of your staff at the
conclusion of the inspect>on.
Areas
examined during this inspection
included radioactive liquid and gaseous
effluents monitoring and radiological environmental
monitoring programs,
and are
described
in the
NRC Region I Inspection
Report which is enclosed with this
letter.
Within these
areas,
the inspection consisted of selective
examinations
of procedures
and representative
records,
interviews with personnel,
and
observations
by the inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection,
no violations or deviations
were noted,
however,
as discussed
in Section
3 of the enclosed report,
inadequate
management
attention
appears
to be focused
on the timely resolution of problems with the
radiological effluent monitors of both Nine Nile Point Units
1 and 2.
