OPR-63 As a result of the inspection conducted on February 24 to March 31,
- 1986, and in accordance with the General Statement of Policy and Procedure for Enforce-ment Actions (Enforcement Policy),
10 CFR 2, Appendix C (1985),
the following violation was identified:
Technical Specification Section
- 6. 12. 1 requires in part that "each high radia-tion area normally accessible by personnel in which the intensity of radiation is greater than 100 mrem/hr but less than 1000 mrem/hr shall be barricaded and conspicuously posted as a high radiation area."
Contrary to the above, on March 7, 1986 a high radiation area accessible by personnel and measuring up to 400 mrem/hr on the Turbine deck, 300 ft. eleva-tion, was not barricaded and not conspicuously
- posted, as the existing gate was wide open, which rendered the existing posting unobservable from the gate entrance.
This is a Severity Level IV Violations (Supplement IV)
Although 10 CFR 2, Section 2.201, requires you to submit a written statement of explanation to this office, no response to this violation is required because it was corrected prior to the completion of our inspection.
