INTEGRATED LEAK RATE TESTING (TAC 61084)

Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, Unit No.
1 In a letter dated April 2, 1986, you stated that you would not be performing Type A Integrated Leak Rate Tests during the shutdown for the 10-year plant inservice inspections (ISI) which coincides with the 1986 Refuel and Maintenance outage.
You indicated that a set of three Type A tests were performed during the original 10-year service period (1974-1984) and that the third test was conducted during the scheduled 1984 plant inservice inspection
- shutdown, as required by Appendix J to 10 CFR Part 50.
The 10-year ISI program was extended through 1986 due to the lengthy outage for replacement of the recirculation piping in 1982-1983, thereby extending the inservice inspection shutdown to 1986.
However, the third Type A test did coincide with the previously scheduled ISI shutdown and is therefore acceptable.
