Water Proofing in the Diesel Generator Building of Nine Mile Point Unit 2 In the FSAR in the response to question 240. 10 NMPC committed to add neoprene gaskets in the diesel generator building to make that area watertight in the event of a PMP rainfall.

In discussions with your staff it was indicated that NMPC now intends to use caulking instead of gaskets to maintain the watertight-ness of the diesel generator building.

NMPC should revise the response to question 240. 10 to include the details of the caulking intended to be used.

These details should include (I) the type of caulk, (2) the properties of the caulk including the effects of freezing and thawing, (3) a description of where the caulk is to be place on the barriers (including elevation),

and (4) the design life expectancy of.the caulk along with the expected replace-ment frequency.
