Re:

Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, Unit No.

1 On May 8, 1984 the NRC sent Generic Letter 84-09 (GL 84-09) to all licensees of operating reactors.

The letter stated that hydrogen recombiner capability need not be provided if the three criteria contained in GL 84-09 were satisfied.

You responded to GL 84-09 by letters dated June 8, June 29 and July 31,, 1984 and provided clarification by telecon on March 4, 1984 regarding the plant's conformance with the criteria in GL 84-09.

We have completed our review of your responses and find that Criteria 1 through 3 in GL 84-09 have been satisfied and, therefore, recombiner capability for Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, Unit No.

1 is not required.

A copy of the Safety Evaluation is enclosed.
