On September 12, 1984 the NRC staff met with representatives of NMPC, Stone and Webster Engineering Corporation (SWEC), and General Electric (GE) to discuss open items in the area of Instrumentation and Controls for NMP-2.
A summary of each of the open items discussed is included in Enclosure l.

This issue is reviewed in both the Instrumentation 8 Controls (ISE) area and the Reactor Systems (RS) area.
The response discussed may be acceptable at this time, however this issue is being reviewed generically.
If the generic review indicates additional information, is necessary it will be requested at that time.
DSER Open item 172 Since the analysis indicates a violation of the MCPR limit a fuel failure analysis must be considered.
NMPC will determine if a bounding analysis has been performed and considered in the design.
DSER Open item 168 NMPC to submit 9/13 DSER Open item 60 overlaps Questions 421.21, 421.22, and 421.23.Open item 60 is under HRC review.
DSER Open item 59 - Loose parts monitoring system:
HMPC to suppy reference where response is included.
GESIL 380 - This is a
new open item.
NMPC was asked to address the NMP-2 position on this SIL.
Q421.03 Additional information on testing of isolation devices needs to be provided.
River Bend is performing additional testing on isolation devices which may be similar to those used at NMP2.
The NRC requested information be provided on the V8V programs for vendors.
