1 In our letter of July 24, 1984 we stated we were reassessing our position with regard to line sizes that need to be isolated on high radiation.

Our current position is:

Every vent/purge line regardless of size, that would communicate the reactor containment atmosphere to the outside atmosphere at any time the reactor coolant temperature would exceed 200'F would isolate on a high radiation signal.

Your December 1,

1983 letter provided your comitment to install a

containment isolation signal on high radiation for your normal vent and purge lines (20 and 24 inches in diameter).

Please clarify if any other lines are used for venting/purging when the reactor temperature would be above 200'F.

Lines installed that are used during normal operation rather than those designed for post accident service are of interest.

If you identify such lines, provide your schedule'ithin 45 days of receipt o'

this letter for the modification to accomplish automatic isolation on high radiation.

The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.
