- Syracuse, New York 13202
Dear Mr. Mangan:
Your letter of March 1, 1984 provided clarifying information regarding several areas contained in the Safety Evaluation supporting Amendment No.
64 to your license.
They were:
1.
Occupational Radiation Exposure
- Clarification of the exposure to the divers for portions of the work between six and eight feet from the existing fuel racks.
2.
Installation and Heavy Loads Handling Considerations
- Discrepancies regarding code edition for ANSI B 30.2 and CMAA 870.
- Degree of conformance with ANSI N14.6 and other standards used in the design, testing and inspection of the lifting.
3.
Structural Aspects of Spent Fuel Pool and Racks
- Clarifying and administrative comments Long Term Surveillance Program for the Neutron Absorber (Boraflex)
- Installation of Surveillance Samples
- Your long term plans to discuss alternatives to the surveillance program with us.
The above stated items were discussed in several telecons in the period February 17, 1984 to March 1, 1984 between our staffs.
At that time, we concluded that:
1.
The Safety Evaluation conclusions were not changed by the additional information.
2.
Any alternatives to the long term surveillance program for the Boraflex would be handled as a separate action.
