Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Unit 2 Docket NO. 50-410 FSAR Table 5.2-1 identifies certain ASME Code Cases that have been used in the construction of components for the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Unit 2.
A number of these Code Cases are identified in Regulatory Guides 1.84 and 1.85 as conditionally acceptable.
That is, Regulatory Position C. 1 of each guide identifies additional conditions that should be imposed in addition to those conditions specified in each Code Case.
The Code Cases that are identified in Regulatory Guide 1.84 as conditionally acceptable are:
1361-2, 1606-1, 1734 and N-318.
The Code Cases that are identified in Regulatory Guide 1.85 as conditionally acceptable are:
1644-6,7,9, 1698 and N-242/N-242-1.
Code Case N-253 which is not in the Regulatory Guides is also conditionally acceptable.
The conditions are that applicants wishing to use this Code Case should provide the following information:
(a)
How the case will be used on specific component or systems.
Provide component description design conditions and time of service above 800'F.
(b) Indicate how Paragraph 1110(b) will be compiled with.
(c) If castings are used and the design temperature exceeds 800'F, justification for safe operation should be provided
.whenever levels of delta ferrite exceed FN 10, assuming formation of sigma phase.
(d) If the alternative methods permitted by paragraph 3111(d) are desired to be used, each method shall be justified on a case by case basis prior to its use in design.
(e) Design Reports shall be available for review.
Demonstrate that you are in compliance with the additional conditions applicable to each of the above conditionally approved Code Cases that are identified in Regulatory Guides 1.84 and 1;85.
In FSAR Table 5.2-1 there is an inconsistency between the Code Case number and the title of Code Case 1744.
The correct title for this Code Case is shown in'he attachment.
In addition, there is no Revision 1 of Code Case 1744.
Verify that the Code Case as listed is the correct number and revise Table 5.2-1 accordingly.
